Presented for the first time in Warsaw in 2017, this version of Swan Lake by Polish National Ballet's Artistic Director Krzysztof Pastor was a resounding success right from the start! This graceful masterpiece takes the original story and transposes it to the Imperial Court of Tsar Alexander III. The story of his son, the Tsarevich Nicholas, and his romance with the ballerina Mathilde Kschessinska while promised to Princess Alix of Hesse, is reminiscent of Prince Siegfried's amorous torments in the original ballet.
