Singer, songwriter, musician, poet, novelist and painter from Montreal, Leonard Cohen (1934-2016) influenced innumerable artists around the world (there are more than 1500 covers of his songs alone). His work explored love, passion, religion, isolation … and the complexity of personal relationships. Cohen was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1991, the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2006 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008. He was a Companion of the Order of Canada since 2003 and Grand Officer of the National Order of Quebec since 2008, the nation's highest civilian honours. Although he left us on November 10th, 2016, at age 82, his legacy still lives on.
